There are numerous ways you can access your Hotmail account on your Android device. Microsoft has a dedicated Hotmail mobile app (known as Microsoft Outlook). And, while the automatic configuration process doesn’t require you to enter the server settings manually, however, if you are looking to configure your account manually, you will need the following Hotmail server settings.

Server Settings for Outlook.com

  • For Incoming Server Settings, use outlook.com

NOTE: For Outlook.com IMAP or POP accounts, you will need to use mail.outlook.com (for IMAP) | pop-mail.outlook.com (for POP).

  • For Outgoing SMTP server settings, use smtp-mail.outlook.com
  • Incoming Port: 993 (for IMAP) | 995 (for POP)
  • Outgoing Port: 587

Server Settings for Microsoft 365 for Business

  • ForIncoming Server Settings, use office365.com
  • For Outgoing SMTP Server Settings, use office365.com.
  • Incoming Port: 993 (for IMAP) | 995 (for POP)
    • Outgoing Port: 587
  • Account Type: Choose either IMAP or POP
  • User Name: Your complete email address
  • EnableMy outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.pt
  • Type of encrypted connection:SSL (for Incoming Server) | SSL or TLS (for Outgoing server)

Steps to Set up Hotmail Account on Android using the Hotmail Server Settings

NOTE: If you have a work account that requires the Intune Company Portal app, make sure to install it from Google Play store and then follow the steps to set up Hotmail on Android. You may or may not be prompted to enroll your Android device in Intune by your IT admin.

When settings up Outlook for Android for the first time

  1. To begin with, you will first need to install the Outlook for Android app from the Google Play Store.
  2. Once you have installed the app, you will need to launch it on your device and tap on the Get Started
  3. Clicking on the Get Started button will make Outlook detect your Google account. If you wish to add your Google account to Outlook, you will need to tap on the Google connect account and then on the OK button to confirm your action.
  4. Then, you will need to tap on the Allow option to let Outlook access your Contacts.

NOTE: In case you do not wish to add your Google account to Outlook for Android, simply tap on the Skip option and move directly to the Step 6.

  1. Next, you will need to select the Google accounts (if you have multiple Google accounts) that you would like to add and then tap on the Add Account You might be prompted to sign in to your account. Make sure to tap on the Allow option to confirm offline access and any other prompts.
  2. Now, if you wish to set up another email account in Outlook for the Android app, enter your email address in the prompted field and tap on the Continue
  3. Then, you will need to enter your email account password in the prompted field and tap on the Sign-in or Next
  4. In case, multiple-factor authentication is enabled, you will need to verify your identity to complete the setup process.

Set up Your Exchange Account Manually

If in Step 6 you are prompted to choose your provider, you will need to set up your Exchange account manually or set up an IMAP or POP account by following these steps:

NOTE: The following instructions are to be followed if you don’t have an email account with Exchange ActiveSync. When you configure your email account with IMAP or POP, you can only sync your email but not the calendar or contacts.

Settings Up IMAP account in Hotmail (Outlook) for Android

  1. In your Outlook for Android app, you will need to go to Settings>Add Account>Add Email Account
  2. Next, you will need to enter your email address and tap on the Continue option. Select the IMAP option when prompted to select an email provider.
  3. Then, you will need to toggle the Advanced Settings on and enter your password server settings using the information provided earlier.
  4. After that, simply tap the checkmark icon to complete the process.
